I wanted to share some valuable resources I've come across in recent months while looking for information to help with Joomla 4 extension development. The short of it is, this lovely eBook on all facets of Joomla 4 development by German author Astrid Günther and this article series on how to create a Joomla 4/5 MVC component from TechFry.com.
I will try to update this guide if and when I come across more resources.
Joomla 5 has officially entered the alpha testing phase with a few new features. I'm going to discuss some of them and give my opinions on the new version.
To begin, Joomla 5 isn't as large of an update as previous major revisions were. Nearly all the extensions and templates that worked with Joomla 4 will work with Joomla 5. They didn't remove the (still often used) depreciated functions from Joomla 4.

Hey there, I've decided to update the blog layout on the site today. This area of the site's been down for many months now, but I think I'm ready to begin blogging again. I will post site updates, life updates, and random articles that don't fit nicely into the "guide" categories here.
Site Updates
- I've been working hard on random Joomla extensions lately. I'm looking to provide more Joomla content, and perhaps more Java programming content in the near future.
- I'd like to complete my videos for the Intro to Joomla series.
- I'm not using AI to write any of the articles, but I am using it for some of the intro thumbnails / graphics (like the one for this blog entry).
- Had to re-enable advertisements due to lack of donations
Hello there! I'd like to update you on what I've been working on lately with regards to the website and its content.
First, I'm always looking for ways to improve the website's design, responsiveness and performance. I try to make my site as accessible as possible. However, there is much room for improvement.
